THE OWNER OF GOTHAM CLEANERS WAS DAVE. I KNEW HIM FOR 30 YEARS, BUT I NEVER KNEW HIS LAST NAME. HE WAS A NICE GUY BUT HE NEVER SMILED MUCH. HE PARKED IN MY PARKING LOT ACROSS THE STREET AT 31 MONROE. I DIDN'T KNOW DAVE'S WIFE'S NAME, BUT I DO REMEMBER SHE WAS SHORT AND CHUBBY LIKE DAVE, AND SHE WAS WELL ENDOWED. SHE WAS ALWAYS IMMACULATELY DRESSED, HER HAIR ALWAYS ALL NICELY DONE UP HIGH ON HER HEAD. ONE DAY IN THE EARLY 80'S, I BROUGHT IN A WHITE THREE PIECE SUIT TO GET CLEANED. A SUIT JUST LIKE TRAVOLTA'S IN SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. WHILE DAVE WAS WRITING UP MY TICKET, HIS WIFE LOOKED AT THE THE SUIT. SHE HANDED IT BACK TO DAVE AND POINTED SOMETHING OUT. DAVE LOOKED AT THE PANTS. THERE WAS RED LIPSTICK SMEARED ALL AROUND THE ZIPPER. HIS WIFE GAVE ME A DIRTY LOOK. DAVE SAID, "YOU MUST HAVE HAD A GREAT TIME LAST NIGHT. BUT I CAN'T GUARANTEE THE LIPSTICK WILL COME OUT."I SHRUGGED AND TOLD HIM, "DO THE BEST YOU CAN." HE SMILED. HIS WIFE DIDN'T. I IMAGINED THAT KIND OF ENCOUNTER BETWEEN HER AND DAVE WAS OUT OF THE QUESTION. POOR FELLA. FROM THAT POINT ON, WHENEVER I BROUGHT IN A SUIT, OR A PAIR OF PANTS, DAVE CHECKED THE ZIPPER BEFORE HE HANDED IT TO HIS WIFE. AND HE ALWAYS HAD A SLIVER OF A SAD SMILE FLICKERING ACROSS HIS FACE. LIKE HE WAS REMEMBERING HAPPY DAYS OF LONG LOST SPECIAL ENCOUNTERS WITH THE MRS WERE DEAD AND BURIED AND NEVER TO ARISE AGAIN. POOR FELLA.

Neither George Gobel Nor George Gogel
One KVer took note of Cliff's last story that involved the Gotham Cleaner's. He had a unique R rated story to share (which I cleaned up a bit)
