The Solerwitz Saga: Part 6, Fire At 67-69 Catherine Street
Just like in later years, the Solerwitz store must have been a mess. This proves the point that this block, slated for demolition four years later to build Knickerbocker Village, must have been in horrible shape. It was also densely packed with rear tenements in the back yards that were ripe for fires to start. From a previous post, this is what the interiors looked like.
