Sarubbi Protest
The protest didn't do any good. It was a done deal and in retrospect maybe the wrong deal. The Smith Projects provided needed and more up to date housing, but it could have been done on a smaller and more manageable scale and with less forced relocation. Existing housing stock could have perhaps been rehabilitated at a lesser cost.

Dr. Paul Sarubbi: Fordham Football Star
Dr. Sarubbi played for Fordham during the 1905-1906 seasons. He was one of the original Seven Blocks Of Granite. I couldn't find any photos of that team. The above is a later version that included Vince Lombardi.

The above is from a 1946 obituary.Dr. Sarubbi was Judge Lupiano's father-in-law. In addition to being a physician he was a local elected official. He also lived at 40 Monroe Street in Knickerbocker Village.
