Evidently there was a branch of the Children Aid's Society on East Broadway and Gouverneur in the late 1800's. The architectural drawing has a 1875 date. On the 1891 map its called an Industrial School and Home locaed at 283 East Broadway. It probably also served as a newsboy lodging house
