Pages In Between

A sound clip of Erin Einhorn on This American Life with Ira Glass
The full episode was broadcast back in November of 2005. The story eventually grew into the recently published book, The Pages in Between I highly recommend it. Her work was the focus of a Tenement Talk, at the Tenement Museum on 11/17. The images come from a flickr set entitled Before, During and After the Holocaust
Erin, in talking about the importance of keeping memories alive referred to a Jewish expression about the dual loss that occurs when an individual dies. It goes something like,
When a person dies we suffer a double loss. We lose the person and we lose the memories of previous generations that die with that person

I'm often at a loss at what I'm trying to do here, but I think that thought resonates with much of the effort.
