Who's Almost Who In Knickerbocker Village History: Studs Terkel

Nine times out of ten there's a lower east side connection. Terkel's family lived in this building in 1910. Somewhere between then and 1920 they moved to the Bronx (the usual immigrant progression) and then on to Chicago. I'd guess this address is less than 3 miles away from KV. Rocky Graziano lived just up the block. My mother lived a block and a half away, so did Lucky Luciano. Instead of giving his money to community non profits to "schtup" city council members to vote his way, Bloomberg could spend the relatively little dough for putting a memorial plaque on 211 Avenue A. Pardon me for some rare political commentary.
