While I was down on the LES this past Sunday I tried to match up the photo that Rebecca Lepkoff, a former KV resident, took in 1948 with the current sight. Lepkoff's book, images taken between 1937-1950, doesn't provide exact dates and locations, only general areas. I was able to figure out it was 1948 since the circus was performing (sign in window) on Wednesday, April 7th and April 7th was a Wednesday in 1948. On the other April 7th, in 1943, the circus didn't perform in New York.
