A Cruel, Cruel Summer?

The minority Yankee "court" (myself included) of exKVers echo the sad and succinct thoughts from the KV Colonel. Terrible memories are recalled of those horrible drought years of the Horace Clarke era
On Tuesday night in Toronto, the NYY will have played 20% of their season. After one-fifth of a year, floating around .500, and no relief (no pun intended, well maybe it was slippage and punning was purposeful), save for A-Roid, in sight, I am getting concerned. Plus no hitting coming out of the catcher's position now. When does it turn around? The AL East is no cake walk. The bullpen is overtaxed, the starters can't get past the sixth inning, and clutch hitting is non-existent. CC Rider has not shown anything. Yeah, he's a slow starter but he has shown he can't keep things close. Joba is unreliable. Pettite seems to be slowing down. Burnett keeps getting lucky and earning no-decisions. Hughes is shaky. Wang is shook. I had visions of clinching by All-Star break. Now I have visions of nothing.

Hot summer streets and the pavements are burning I sit around
Trying to smile but the air is so heavy and dry
Strange voices are sayin'
What did they say
Things I can't understand
It's too close for comfort this heat has got right out of hand
It's a cruel ... cruel ... cruel summer
Leaving me here on my own
It's a cruel ... it's a cruel ... cruel summer
Now you've gone
The city is crowded my friends are away and I'm on my own
It's too hot to handle so I gotta get up and go
It's a cruel ... cruel ... cruel summer
Leaving me here on my own
It's a cruel ... it's a cruel .. cruel summer
Now you've gone
You're not the only one
It's a cruel ... cruel ... cruel summer
Leaving meeeeee ... leaving me here on my own
It's a cruel ... it's a cruel ... cruel summer
Now you've gone
It's a cruel ... cruel summer
Leaving me here on my own
It's a cruel ... cruel summer
Now you've gone
You're not the only one
It's a cruel ... cruel ... cruel summer
Leaving meeeeee ... leaving me here on my own
It's a cruel ... it's a cruel ... cruel summer
Now you've gone
